Dog Walkers needed!
Picturethis.... a shelter full of dogs, all desperate to get outside for somefresh air, a bathroom break and some stress-free time away from theshelter. What do they need most? YOU!
Unfortunately, today is a normal day. We are often lacking in people to walk dogs whenthe shelter has an abundance of pets. As much as I love to walk dogs, Icannot take them all out, and it breaks my heart to see their sad eyeswhen I am too sore, tired, or cold to take any more out, and someone isstill waiting for their turn.
So....please, if there is ANYONE 16 or older out there that likes to walk andcan come during the mornings (once you are familiar with the routine),daytime (during public hours), or evenings on Tuesdays (7:00-8 pm) or Sundays (3:30-5:00 pm),please visit the shelter to fill out a volunteer form and get started. Those between the ages of 16-18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign. Younger volunteers must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult.Check with staff to find out the rules, best places to walk, and whichdogs can go together.
Bring your ice cleats or appropriate footwear for winter walks and a water bottle and sturdy shoes for summer walks. Jeans recommended.
Thanks SO much to those of you who havegiven dog walking a try and to those who are only able to help out oncein awhile. Even one extra walker can make a HUGE difference to us (andthe dogs).
We are very fortunate to have acouple big yards at our shelter for the dogs to take breaks in, butthe dogs still NEED to have walks and companionship to deal with stresseffectively.

Want to know where we are? Our address is 9311-81st Ave.
Ifheading southbound on the Alaska Highway, turn right at the last set oflights by Troyer. Keep to the left curve of the road... look straightahead. You'll see a big red building. We areright beside that, in a blue building with an SPCA sign on the side.
Alternatively, follow 100th St. down, cross the Alaska Highway, keep going straight until you come to 81st Ave. then turn left. Go straight for a few blocks until you come to our building on the right (beside Generic Towing).
