Fort St John and Area Better at Home staff are thrilled to announce that the program will be active in Fort St John and surrounding area for another year, continuing with its mission to assist seniors to remain independent and in their homes longer. At this time, year two of Better at Home will roll out on Wednesday April 1 2015.
For those who do not know about Fort St John and Area Better at Home, Better at Home is a program that assists seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities. The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it, in Fort St John, the North Peace Seniors Housing Society manages the local Better at Home. There are currently sixty-one Better at Home programs being delivered across British Columbia. Services currently offered are: weekly-bi-weekly subsidized housekeeping services to assist seniors with tasks that they are no longer physically able to perform, volunteer drivers and volunteer visitors(based on availability of volunteers).
