The District of Taylor is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated individual looking to further their experience and knowledge in the profession of Landscape Maintenance.
Reporting to the Parks & Facilities Director, the successful individual will be responsible for all aspects on a variety of gardening and horticultural tasks. The incumbent will work in an administrative, technical, and supervisory capacity as a part of the Community Beautification Team.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and have a diploma from a recognized two-year Horticulture program with two years’ related experience, or a Journeyman Landscape Gardener certification, or the equivalency of education and experience combined. It would be considered an asset if the incumbent also possessed Level I First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, and Pesticide Applicator’s Certification.
The incumbent will be required to maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and supply his/her own steel-toed work boots and personal rain gear.
The 2019 seasonal term will be from April to October. The successful applicant can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday but may be required to work the occasional weekend. The position’s rate of pay will range from - per hour, plus 4% vacation pay. The incumbent’s pay rate will be determined based upon a combination of relevant education and experience.
