Call for resumes – AFDE Partnership Site “C” Dam
AFDE Partnership is a group of four construction companies building the Generating Station and Spillways (GSS) Civil Works portion of the Site C dam. The partnership consists of global and local leaders in complex infrastructure construction: Aecon, Flatiron, Dragados, and EBC.
BC Hydro awarded the GSS Civil Works contract for the Site C project to AFDE Partnership in March 2018. The key components of the contact include the generating station (powerhouse) and penstocks, spillways and power intakes, and related ancillary construction work.
AFDE is committed to providing opportunities for local candidates from the Peace River Region. Our work is currently on a stand still due to Covid-19, but we want to start building a strong leadership crew for when we can return to work.
We are looking for Forepersons and General Forepersons with the following skills and experience.
-Capable of leading a crew of 3 – 10 people on site in their respective trade to complete the work safely and to the specifications, while achieving the schedule
-Experience in Heavy Civil Construction
-Ability to motivate and lead a team to complete multiple tasks
-Can effectively implement AFDE’s safety program. Complete a JARR card daily, ensure their crew has reviewed and signed off on work plans and he wearing proper PPE
-Ensure workers for each task are fully qualified to perform assigned duties
-Request material needed for scope of work
-Read and understand drawings, plans, and pour packages and can direct crews to complete work accordingly
-Can set and manage their crew to achieve daily targets
-Understands how to complete a timecard, calculate quantities
-Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
-Journeyman Certification or equivalent experience
Must have Technical Knowledge in:
-WSBC safety requirements
-Industrial formwork systems (EFCO preferably)
-Shoring and falsework installation
Must be able to perform all of the Foreperson related tasks and duties plus:
-Reports to the Superintendent, responsible for the management of the field crews in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable legislation.
-Responsible for coordination of the work set out by segment management while adhering to safety standards. Will be responsible for 2 – 8 crews, including safety, quality, and production performance.
-Supervises, mentors and coaches forepersons and craft personnel.
-Must be knowledgeable in their trade
-Able to understand the scope of multiple trades
-Able to come up with safe technical solutions to field changes
-Able to coordinate multiple cranes
-Able to understand the segments three-week-look-ahead schedule, and 60 day targets and prioritize, as well as organize the work
-Able to communicate and work with field engineers and the client to ensure inspections are scheduled as per the contract
-Ensure adequate material and tool supply for the crews
-Will aid in the development of work plans and procedures
-Further responsibilities include assigning and directing work, appraising performance, disciplinary actions, addressing complaints and solving problems
