Civil Engineering Division Manager
You have a degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with strong technical skills and 5+ years of related technical experience
You have registration in good standing as a P.Eng in British Columbia or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements
You have proven ability to attract and retain clients, win projects and consistently provide high quality deliverables on time and on budget
You have demonstrated business development skills
You have an aptitude for leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and relationship building
Bonus points if you have experience with all government levels, construction contractors and developers
Since 1977, McElhanney has grown and maintained a very successful geomatics engineering business in Fort St. John. Our team of dynamic professionals has over 50 staff members. To better serve our extensive list of top tier clients, we want to increase the diversity of services by adding civil engineering to our services. As such we have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Division Manager.
In this role, you will serve as a visionary and strategic leader working with our professional staff in Fort St John and other engineering leaders in our other local branches. You will use your dynamic people and leadership skills, and a passion for developing business opportunities to win and execute engineering projects. This leadership role, with shareholding opportunities, is ideal for a self-starter that can excel in a mature, privately held organization with an established engineering, surveying, and support services firm.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a seasoned professional, trusted advisor and member of McElhanney’s management team, your primary responsibilities will be:
Grow and manage our Civil Engineering presence in the Fort St. John market,
Lead the management of diverse civil engineering projects, and
Inspire and mentor a high performing team in achieving continuing success.
While our success in Fort St. John has been largely based in the energy sector, you will be working closely with the Regional Vice President, Branch Managers and other technical Project Managers across our region to diversify and grow our services in the engineering sector. In this role, you will ensure that financial objectives are aligned with the McElhanney’s Vision, Values and Key Strategic Goals.

You will lead diverse civil projects; manage technical, logistical, and financial aspects and carry out engineering design from proposal stage through to commissioning of the work
You have a vision of effective project management and will interface with design teams to ensure clients’ standards are met and engineering services meet or exceed expectations
You will conduct technical design reviews and provide technical direction to the engineering team
