All leather, Black, sz lg pony, small horse, Ideal X, breastcollar, gig harness.
Ideal parts never used and in like new condition, with hang tag still attached to gig style sliding backband.
I brought this harness in from the UK. The seller had purchased it from a sale to fit her large Gypsy drum type horse. The harness still had new zip ties and Ideal hang tag on it. It did not fit her horse and she sold it to me.
The harness had been in storage for a while before I got it and was stiff/dry, but in great shape. I have cleaned it up, conditioned it several times and got the gig strap sliding, sanded of tiny rust bits on some buckles, it is soaped and ready to go!
I tried it on my hh Warmblood pony stallion, but it is sadly too large. So, after all that work getting it here and cleaning, conditioning and soaping it I have decided to let someone else love it. :(
It looks to be for a large bodied pony to light horse 14 hh size which is one size up from my guys.
The harness comes with an as new bridle, with new never used cob sized, Ideal noseband, padded breast collar, the neck strap attached to breast collar, has a different maker stamp on it I can't quite read, 'Hastlo', or Hastmo?" so I'm not certain breast collar is an Ideal or??, and has a new, Ideal gig style back saddle, with sliding back strap for 2 wheeled cart use (an extra Ideal option) with an as new Ideal backstrap and crupper, Buckle in traces that are nylon webbing lined for strength and have hook or clip on ends, plain breeching and Includes a set of like new reins.
Harness is not without a couple of small cosmetic or easy to fix issues;
1) the browband at one time has gotten a crunch and one decorative chain link is missing. The chain can be ordered from Ideal, or one could take it out altogether and just have it black or customized by a browband maker to match your colours in crystals, or just use it as is. The cosmetic damage doesn't affect its function.
2) the harness is missing holdback straps which can be ordered in the proper length, for your horse/rig at any harness shop or maker Ginger Chappell in Barriere BC, for instance, makes them.
3) There aren't trace carriers with this harness? This, I have since learned is not a given and can get in the way with gig harness draft, so maybe it never had any?
This is the link to the Ideal harness site, prices are in US I believe.
Asking +GST obo Canadian $$ as is.
Here's your chance to upgrade to a really nice leather harness. More pictures upon request.
