Qualifications: Clinical/Applied Psychology; Master of Educational Counseling; Masters of Arts (Clinical Psychology); Master in Child and Youth Care; Master of Social work; Registered Nurse with BA in Nursing.

Minimum 2+ years experience in providing clinical counselling services in the area of Child and Youth Mental Health

Experience working with indigenous communities and/or non-profit organizations

Experience conducting both Psycho-educational and treatment focused group sessions to various ages

A valid Class 5 BC drivers’ licence and acceptable drivers abstract required

A clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector search, with results acceptable to childcare regulations


Description:

Nenan Dane zaa Deh Zona Family Services Society (Nenan) is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Indigenous Child & Youth Mental Health Clinician!

This position is responsible for providing culturally appropriate therapeutic services and information which enhance the relationships and wellness of children and families who are experiencing significant challenges, in the Treaty 8 lands of Northeastern British Columbia.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Reviews referrals, conducts intakes and manages client waitlist
• Conduct mental health assessments, safety plans and develop assessment reports
• Complete monthly and annual program reports
• Provide direct clinical services through group work in the areas of parenting, stress
management, problem solving, conflict resolution, effective communication, and social
skills enhancement
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate treatment plans relative to support and education
regarding the mental health concern identified.
• Maintains clinical/client records and administrative records/stats
• Maintains and promotes working relationships with community professionals
• Assist Indigenous families to navigate the existing health and social service network of care by
linking Indigenous children, youth, families and communities with the Child and Youth Mental Health
community, and community personnel such as band social workers, on-reserve health directors, and
Indigenous addiction workers
• Lead ongoing planning, development, and evaluation of prevention services
• Lead the planning and delivery of prevention, early intervention, and risk reduction programs
• Engage community members and promote Indigenous Child & Youth Mental Health services.
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of Nenan Deh zaa
Deh Zona Family Services Society
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities in accordance with Nenan policies, standards, and
procedures, and as directed by the Indigenous Child & Youth Mental Health Clinical Manager



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Awareness of the diverse cultures, histories and traditions of Treaty 8 First Nations, Indigenous and
Metis peoples of northeastern BC
• Extensive knowledge of child development and an understanding of children with diverse needs
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening and conflict management
• Ability to participate in collaborative decision-making and cultivating a positive team environment
• Knowledge and experience working within northern and rural communities
• Develop and maintain working knowledge and relationships with natural partners and supports in the
communities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills
• The ability to manage and support a team
• Ability to communicate effectively, with children and their families, educational personnel, child
protection social workers and resource workers, service providers, colleagues, physician, and other
health care staff, both one-on-one and in group settings.

Location: Position is based in Fort St John but company-paid travel within the northeastern BC region is required.

Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30. Evening and weekend work as required.
Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 based on experience and qualifications. Paid training and professional development opportunities. Comprehensive benefits package with optional company matched RRSP plan after successful completion of three-month probation.
