Job Description:

  • Arctech Welding + Machining is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator to join our shop team in Charlie Lake, BC. This position is focused on structural steel fabrication, shop welding, layout, fitting, and general fabrication work. Important: applicants must currently be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or resident of Canada with valid authorization to work in Canada. Sponsorship and relocation support are not available for this position.

Job Requirements:

As a Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Fabricate structural steel components including pipe supports, pipe racks, access platforms, railings, ladders, barrel docks, and related assemblies
  • Perform general fabrication duties, including welding repairs to trucks and equipment, gouging cracks, fabricating brackets, and completing miscellaneous shop repairs
  • Operation and safe use of hand, power and air tools
  • Operation and safe use of overhead cranes via remote controlled hand controls
  • Operation and safe use of portable plasma cutting equipment
  • Operation and safe use of oxy/fuel gas cutting equipment
  • Ability to run bobcat, loader, tele handler is preferred but willing to train
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication details
  • Ability to work, stand or walk for extended periods of time  on various surfaces
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl for extended periods of time to carry out your duties
  • Ability to lift items up to and over 25 kg
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
  • Maintain and update online company training and safety documentation
  • Ability to multi-task and work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Welder certification or Red Seal endorsement is preferred; applicants with a proven extended period of structural steel welding/fabrication experience greater than 5 years will also be considered
  • Must currently be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or resident of Canada with valid authorization to work in Canada
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (shop located in Charlie Lake)
  • CWB certified welder of steel
  • Mathematical understanding as it relates to fabricating
  • Proficient in GMAW, MCAW/FCAW of steel
